MAGA Competition Teams

South St. Paul Community Education Gymnastics is home to the SSP Gymnastics Program. SSP Gymnastics competes under the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA). The intention of the program is to prepare the gymnast for their high school gymnastics program by allowing them to gain valuable competitive experience as well as strength, flexibility, and confidence to pursue other activities. Skills will be based on requirements as well as ability. Tryouts are required. Check back for Team Placement Tryout Information.
SSP Gymnastics has two competition level teams: Supernovas and Eclipse and one Pre-team: Cosmos.
During the season, gymnasts practice with their team 2-3 times per week, year round, for a monthly fee. The competition season lasts from December through February with 6-7 competitions and if the team qualifies, the regional championship at the end of February.
Supernovas- Team 1

The Supernovas practices three times per week for a total of 7.5 hours. At MAGA 2026 Championships, Supernovas competed in Division 4 and brought home the Sportsmanship Award for their session.

Eclipse- Team 2

Eclipse practices two times per week for a total of 6 hours. At MAGA 2026 Championships, Eclipse competed in Division 10 and brought home 3rd place and the Sportsmanship Award for their session.

Cosmos- PreTeam
The Cosmos are the SSP Gymnastics Pre-Team. This team is for gymnasts just beginning their competition journey. Gymnasts continue building their skills and practice putting them into routines. The pre-team competition season takes place after the Competitive Team season ends, April-May. The team will have 2-3 competitions during that time.
