Adult Enrichment

South St. Paul Adult Enrichment Program offers classes and activities for adults ages 15 and up based on the needs and interests of community members. Some of the most popular classes include Writing Your Own Will, Holiday Cooking and Candy Take-and-Bake, Hypnosis: Weight Loss-Stop Smoking/Chewing Tobacco, Home Repair Basics, Tap Dance, and How to Use Microsoft Excel. Most classes are held during the evening on weekdays in buildings in South St. Paul, West St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights.

Mindfulness and Meditation (online)

Many people struggle with meditation and staying in the present moment. In this class you will attain different skills to keep you in the present moment and get the most out of your meditations. As part of being in the present moment you will learn to experience life through all 5 senses. There will be several exercises throughout the class to help you master these new life skills.

Four Successful strategies to protect the house, farm, cabin and more before and after your death

The concern: Our family has a cabin, homestead, hunting land, farm or second home: How do we protect this family legacy and move its use and enjoyment into the future?

The problem: Various sources and forces threaten its very existence: The nursing home and Medicaid (MA), estate taxes, family divorces, creditor and bankruptcy issues, taxes and operating expenses, unequal resources of owners, the in-laws, and use and enjoyment equality.

The answer: We will provide real-life solutions and explore four paths to resolution that will solve our problems without driving the family apart or sacrificing the family legacy asset.

Sushi

Participate in this great class - then make delicious sushi for yourself, family, and friends. Learn where to shop, brands to select, preparation of the ingredients, assembly of the rolls and presentation. You will create both the traditional rolled sushi (maki-zushi) and the American California sushi. Start with easy to season sushi rice, then select and roll wonderful ingredients such as chicken, shrimp, smoked salmon, crab, mushrooms, eggs, carrots, avocado, spinach, ginger and more! Note: No raw fish! A $15 supply fee is payable to the instructor in class.

Laksa: singapore curry noodle soup (online)

Let's bring a hawker center to your kitchen and learn how to make delicious Singapore laksa from scratch. We will start with making laksa paste from scratch and then turn the paste into the popular Singapore Laksa with chicken, shrimp, and tofu. Let's probate an actual MN estate (online)

In this class we will walk-thru (in depth) an actual Minnesota Probate Estate from the filing of the Application for Probate to the Final Accounts...and all the steps in between. Class participants will learn the entire process with current forms, court and filing requirements, accounting and procedural steps, as well as the procedures for the sale and distribution of estate assets. We will also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of a person who is appointed as the Executor/Personal Representative. The class will be filled with real-life examples and solutions to the multitude of issues involving a typical (or not typical) Minnesota Probate Estate. This class encourages questions: Is there a "reading of the Will"? What about personal items? Does the Executor get paid? What about estate bills and creditors? We will provide the answers.

Experience the newest twist on the beloved macaron - an impressive macaron cake crafted from layers of oversized macarons and rich fillings, decorated with traditional macarons. This class is open to everyone, whether or not you have previously participated in Nancy's macaron classes.
